# Activating Tasks

Once the task is created, it needs to be activated. Only one task can be active at the same time. In case a task is active and you activate another one, the previously activated task will be inactivated.

If a task is active, you can see a green circle in the top right corner of the **Task Editor** and the given task appears as bold in the **Task List View**.

Tasks can be activated in two different ways:

* Clicking the grey circle on the top right corner of the **Task Editor**

* Right-clicking on the given task in the **Task List View** and selecting the **`Activate Task`** option in the **Context Menu**.

#### Active branch displayed in the status bar <a href="#taskeditor-activebranchdisplayedinthestatusbar" id="taskeditor-activebranchdisplayedinthestatusbar"></a>

Task ID and summary are displayed in the status bar when working on a task. Double-clicking on this info opens the **Task Editor**.

A task can be inactivated by

* Clicking the green circle in the top right corner of the **Task Editor**
* Right-clicking on the given task in the **Task List View** and selecting **Deactivate Task** Context Menu option
* Activating another task
